Stefan Naude, Rick De La Rey or Steak. He is known by many, and by many a name but not nearly enough people have met or know this man.

HAIRLIP MADE ME DO IT

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

The sensational 80’s cover band HAIRLIP asked me to fire off some last minute press pics. Any chance I get to work with these guys I snap up in an instant. We have some plans for a comprehensive photoshoot in the near future but for now here are some shots of the group on the Durban beachfront from last month. Check out their site and get to their next gig..

LILY BIRD SUMMER 2010

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

I am finally free to update my blog with all the happenings from the past two months. Starting with Lily Bird’s Summer 2010 fashion shoot. This was the second range I had the immense pleasure of shooting for Jen and Jess’s love child, Lily Bird. Check out their new website and if you like what you see then join their facebook page. I had such an awesome time on this shoot and I am really stoked with the way it all turned out.

Black Hawk

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Next week is blog week… almost through the crazy pile of work I buried myself in and can almost see the end of 14 hour work days. So check back then please. For now I just wanted to put up this test I just completed from yesterday’s Black Hawk shoot I did. I am really privileged to get opportunities like this. Thanks Simmo.

Turn It Loose

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

The past month has hands down been the busiest time of my life! Not that it’s a bad thing but deadlines have meant I haven’t been able to get to my own things like this blog. There is so much stuff for me to now post up here in the next couple of days so make sure to swing by soon. For now I just wanted to chuck up this image of American Red Bull B-Boy Roxrite who is out in South Africa promoting the screenings of Turn it Loose a documentary following the lives of selected B-Boys preparing and competing in the Red Bull BC One series. Check out the trailer on the link above, the film is amazing!

For this shot I took him to the Muti Market in town… if only pictures could convey smells!!

Anna Savage is all Heart

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

This is Anna Savage and she is a qualified chef by trade. Although now no longer a chef by profession, she still has her fingers dipped in pies but of the creative indie flavour.  She’s a co-founder of the I Heart Market, one of six people involved in the I Heart Durban Parties as well as a founder in the soon to open Unit 11, an indie / electro DJ Bar where you can eat popcorn, play ping-pong and hang with friends. On the side she writes food pieces for publications and has a steady passion for crochéing and I’m pretty damn stoked I can get to say I know her. Thanks for the tea party Anna!

New Lily Bird Website

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Recently I got to shoot the Lily Bird Winter 2010 Range. Lily Bird is a durban based clothing label exclusive to YDE stores and they have just revamped their website with the pics from our shoot. Still a relatively new brand they are growing from strength to strength. The team running the brand are so positive and are having so much fun with the brand which made working with them so great. It was just one of those days where everything seems to go right. The best kind of days. I had so much fun on this shoot and am really looking forward to doing more exciting stuff with them in the future.

Propagate Positivity

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

It’s been quite a while since my last update. Not because I’ve been lazy but rather I’ve been working on a few projects which I’ll mention once completed, it’s just I haven’t found the time. Also with getting married in 11 days, spare time has become a valuable and precious escape. Anyways, I’ve found a gap to mention that I have just shot an ad for Verb featuring Durban artist Wesley van Eeden. I can’t give away too much yet but I managed to sneak in a quick portrait of Wesley and his fellow artist friend Pete Reynolds who helped Wes paste up the 8m x 3m poster. This was great fun and I hope I get the opportunity to work with Wes again soon.

Dlamini Dlamini

Monday, March 8th, 2010

I shot this quite a while ago and it’s been sitting on desktop for ages. It’s one of my favourite skate shots I’ve taken, with one of the most driven skaters in SA you could shoot with (Dlamini Dlamini). The slide is quite narrow and the floor was pretty slippery but Dlamini slayed it a couple of times for me to get the shot I wanted. Shots like this keep me stoked for days.

Bringing a Shark to a Gunfight

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

If you like Deathcore (Ra ra ra ra rrrrraaahhhhh) you should check out Bringing a Shark to a Gunfight. I’m sure their lyrics are positive but you’re never gonna make out a single consonant. Think that’s why people just stand around and punch the air at the shows. Good fun though.
