So when I swopped my vows with my exceptionally beautiful and at the time red lipped wife I was in fact getting myself a new entourage of family. Included in that posse and the focus of this post is our house mate Jacki Bruniquel who is just one of the most talented and unique visioned photographer / artist in the world. No word of a lie! Check out her blog and website which I designed with the coding help of Hautefish and you’ll see how good she is for yourselves.
So, having just launched her new site and blog Jax was approached by The Bugle to do an interview. To go along with the article Jax asked me to shoot a portrait of her and this is the result…

I have often been told I potter around too much and judging by how late this post is I’m prone to agreeing. Think I just found my new years resolution too! So 2010 has had some hype and all I can say is I’m feeling it! So much going on this year, so much to look forward to and it’s the last year of my twenty’s. Hectic.
So for new years a few friends made a trip up to the midlands to chill and get away from the city. Took in some fly fishing and some fine dining and entered this year so charged. I’m still working through my pics but have to run off for a shoot now. Figured I’d just throw these four up first and then the rest tonight or tomorrow.
Hope you all had an amazing festive season and that this year is going to be as good for you as it’s gonna be for me. All that’s left to say is… peaches!

If you like Deathcore (Ra ra ra ra rrrrraaahhhhh) you should check out Bringing a Shark to a Gunfight. I’m sure their lyrics are positive but you’re never gonna make out a single consonant. Think that’s why people just stand around and punch the air at the shows. Good fun though.

This past weekend was quite a busy one. Seeing old friends, making new ones, helping a sick fiancé, trying to stay dry, watching bands, playing 30 seconds and having a good time. This picture is of close friends Tim and Mandy who were down from Joburg. Tim plays base in the band “Bringing a shark to a Gunfight” and Mandy drums in “Japan and I“. I love this shot.

Recently I stumbled across an image of director David Lynch shot by Nadav Kander which injected me with a firey does of inspiration. The portrait’s tone got me wanting to mess around with ways to colour images of my own. I am a huge fan of portraiture and Kander’s approach has lit a fire under my ass. So much so that on the same day I shot off three pics of family and friends. This is my first attempt and is pretty much copycat but I’m gonna expand and refine a technique of my own off of these. I have a whole series in mind I want to shoot, so keep your eyes peeled.
The last shot of Jacki (www.jackibruniquel.com) was shot just after she was done cutting onions. She walked out the kitchen all teary-eyed so I asked her play along. Can’t help but wanting to give her a hug and tell her that in the end everything will be alright, if it’s not, it’s not the end!
